Following the growing love for football in the country and particularly the passion Ugandans showed during Ugandas ongoing campaign to qualify for the 2008 African Cup of Nations finals in Ghana, the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) is scouting for young talent around the country.
The Chairman of the Youth Standing Committee, also Coordinator for Youth Mobilization at FUFA, Justus Mugisha says the federation is looking out for the under 17 team so that in future, the country can boast of a pool of footballers.
Ugandas football has been relying on a few talents and the failure for such people to appear for national duty, has always left a gap in the national soccer.
Mugisha says that as part of the plans, the youth teams from different districts have been divided into clubs, district teams, inter-district team and zonal teams.
A team of under 17 players jetted in Kampala on Tuesday ahead of the preparations for the CECAFA Championship in Burundi. Mugisha says that FUFA will select some youth who have played in the CECAFA Championship to join the national team.
